THE CHALLENGE

Mazda needed a high-profile, interactive festival activation at SXSW that seamlessly blended automotive technology, music culture, and digital engagement. The goal was to break through the festival noise to transform consumer perception of the Mazda3, creating a highly shareable, experiential environment where tech-savvy music fans and top-tier artists could connect with the vehicle in an entirely unprecedented way.

THE SOLUTION

STN COLLECTIVE combined the core pillars of SXSW to turn a Mazda3 into a physical musical instrument and custom light show at the Mazda Sound Lounge and Hype Hotel, allowing curious attendees to generate musical notes by physically tapping the car. To maximize buzz, they invited bands and musicians to interact with the vehicle, filming a high-profile segment with Robert DeLong and Guillermo for Jimmy Kimmel Live! while hosting performing artists at the Mazda #HYPEON Influencer Lounge for exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes content.
